Meanwhile I was getting ready for school one morning I saw a commercial for Meg2010, she is running for governor of California in this year. They start the commercial by telling us what her oponion is that California lacks and she says it’s a crisis of confidence. I love how the camera angle is, it is to the side of her face like she is talking to someone else but she is really talking to us, the people who can vote for her as governor. I like why they made it that angle because it doesn’t look fake it doesn’t look like she is trying to sell is something even though she is. she is trying to sell us her campaign. Then on the right of her it said her name Meg Whitman and the background is blurred, and it seems like it is at her house. I can see a vase of sunflowers and that gives it a pop. Right after you see a man in a business suit looking out from his office in downtown los angels, and a lot of other California landmarks.

She next tells that she is the CEO of EBAY and that California needs a bussniess perspective right now, and they show two magazines she was on the cover of. She tells us that the first thing she would do is creat new jobs. The second is cutting government spending, and thrid is fixing our education system. I think that is what California truly needs at the time. Thru out the commercial there is soft, inspiring music playing in the background, and that kept the commercial really balanced. She said a lot in the small amount of time it was all this was in one minute, and she has my vote already.

I was at my Friends house and we were watching B.E.T. and as we know its stands for Black Entertainment Television, and there was a commercial about a black dating website. It is called black people meet .com. The commercial looked really cheesy and low budget. Even though you can tell they didn’t have the most money to make this commercial it stuck in my head. One of the reason is because they kept on repeating “black people meet.com” and they had to have said it at least 10 times! Then the commercial shows about 3 different couple who met on that website. They tell us there experiance and what they did the first time they met. I think they did that to try to make it relatable.

This comercial is deffentily for black people it says it all over it. Theyre not shy to hid it ethier that is why they showed it on B.E.T. becasue its for Black entertainment. I kind of feel like there is a double standard there. If MTV or VH1 were to make a commercail that says white people meet.com I think there would be an out rage, and people wouldnt like it.

Food Network.

I love the Food Network. They have great recipes you can make, they have different styles on there. They have Mexican food, American, italian, everything. They also show you how to do it very precisely, my mom is always watching this Channel. I think it is made for moms or women, because they commercials they show are about chick flicks that are on DVD. There is also alli commercials which is a diet plan. Thats kind of ironic, because your watching the food channel, but they have diet commercials. There is also commercials of orange juice and wallmart. When i think of wallmart it screams out moms!!

They also have a lot of different shows like Dinners dive-ins and dines which i think are more for men. First of all the host is a guy, and most of the things like cook are like chilli, hamburgers. Also there’s Sandra’s Money Saving Meals. I think this show is for mothers, becuase Moms always try to save that last penny. Sandra is a white women who looks like she’s in her 40s and she looks like a mom. This show shows you how to make a meal out of yesterdays left overs.

So today I was going on YouTube because I wanted to hear this song and I don’t have it on my IPOD so i wanted to hear it there. Usually when I go on YouTube I ignore all the things like recommended for you or most poplar videos, But today this video got my attention. It is a video of this girl who was showing her viewers new clothes she bought. I understand that some girls do YouTube videos to show other girls how to wear clothes. Not this girl she wasnt showing you the best way to wear it. She showed about 25 plus items of clothing. She told us why she liked them and where she bought them. A lot of it was from forever 21 I wonder if the store gives her money because this is great advertising.

This video is 3 days old and it has been viewed 200,718 times. So it’s really popular. This video goes on for 11 min and 41 second. I can’t belive people would watch this for that long! She also has other Videos uploaded about make-up, and hair, but those do show you how to do it. I would think all the people who subscribe to her account were teenage girls, but she has 134,780 Subscribers, and they range from men to women of all ages. There is a lot of other girls who have YouTube accounts like her, this girl looks hispanic and she has long black hair, and she is pretty. I think a lot of YouTube-ers’ just want to become famous and they try to make it famous by YouTube. It has happened, but not to everyone. Oh, and she also has give aways. She gives away make up and she gave away a Coach purse, so that is also a way she gets people to view her videos. The saw one advertisement on the bottom of the video as it was playing of “blue fly” which is a store. There add says “shop today and get $40 off” then it says some of the name brands, and these are really expensive upscale brands like Prada, and Gucci. They advertise them on her YouTube channel because YouTube knows people are watching this shopping video. I think having and making YouTube videos is good as a hobbie, but don’t put your hopes up that you’ll become famous off of it.

Skittles.

Skittles have always had some extraordinary commercials on t.v. I just saw the weirdest one. It was a boy who walk talking to his mom, and he is telling her that he wants to go to college. Shes tells him that they need him there, so he can’t go. Meanwhile she’s getting skittles from a tree, and they have a skittles farm. She tittels him and trys to make him happy because he was bummed over the fact that she doesnt want him to go to college and he starts to laugh and a bunch of skittles fall alll over.

Later on I see that commercial again and I realise that the boy is the skittles tree there is a branch coming out of his stomach. No wonder his mom needed hin there. without him there would not any skittles on the farm, and her skittles farm wouldn’t work. This commercial was really weird, but it was also funny. I am looking forward to see what other commercials skittles comes up with.

DIESEL advertisements.

As we might all know Diesel is a clothing brand that sells just about everything, from underwear to jeans. Diesel is also kinda price-y. Most of their jeans are $100 plus. Diesel is an italian brand and it was founded by Renzo Rosso. He mad this brand for the younger adults.

I am an active reader of the magazine Nylon. I just got the Feb 2010 issue yesterday and i was flipping thru the pages and i saw this Diesel advertisement. It caught my attention because i saw this girl flashing this security camera while she was standing on a ladder to get to the security cameras height. Then to the right of it there is in big, bold, pink letters that say “SMART MAY HAVE THE BRAINS, BUT STUPID HAS THE BALLS.” I thought this was really funny. I couldn’t believe someone would make an advertisement like this. I think this advertisement was a good idea, advertisements are made to get people attention and this sure did get my attention. I even went to their website, and they have really nice jeans. I wanted to see if they have other advertisements like this and they sure do, they have a lot more advertisements that tell you and show you that stupid people have balls.

Reality Shows.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but i am getting sick of reality shows! I think it was a great thing when it started, but now I think there are way to many reality shows out there, and most of them are NOT even REAL reality shows. They just make them seem like they are real, but there not, and thats fake. I still watch some shows because that’s what’s on t.v all the time in most of the channels, but I am getting tired of watching the same dating show where the guy gets to pick out off all these girls, and then a month after the show is over they break up. Thats an other thing. Why is it that the guy always gets to have the opportunity to pick the girl. There isn’t a lot of reality shows where it is the girl deciding which guy she wants to spend ther rest of her life with, and I see that as sexes. Those T.V shows give men the upper hand.

I am so ready to watch a sitcom like family matters, or clueless! Those are the best, they make you laugh and somehow make yo forget about your problems. On the other had reality shows can sometimes give you stress! In my English class last semester I learned that the channel HGTV give people more stress because what they show on that channel is peoples homes, and people fixing up their houses. That gives the viewers ideas for them to try to fix their home and sometimes they don’t have the money and now their thinking about their money and how they can make more money to get the home of there dreams. With a sitcom your laughing most of the time, that is why I think we should lay off reality shows for a while.

Valentine’s day!

Valentines day is filled with love and joy, right?! I think this is a holiday that puts too much pressure on couples. The pressure to get your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, the perfect gift that would show them how much you love them, how much you care for them, and even how much your willing to spend. It’s the Christmas for February. When people go to target or CVS they see Valentine advertisements everywhere! Dont get me wrong I like all that mushy girly stuff, of course! I just don’t like the pressure that society puts on us to get our significant other the perfect gift they want.

I also think Valentines day is to show the people around you like family or friends that you love them. Everyone loves to get a little box of chocolate or a nice card. People should see it really is the though that counts and not how much they spend especially in this economy I don’t recommend you splurge just for one day. I recently talked to my friend and i asked her what she was going to get her boyfriend for valentine’s day and his birthday because there only a couple days off from each other, and she said quote: “please don’t talk to me about valentine’s day im still trying to recover from Christmas.” I think a lot of people feel that way thats why it is important to remember its the thought that counts and we should spend this Holiday with the people we love and care for, because nothing is more precious them quality time.

Blind Side.

I just saw the movie blind side yesterday. I know it has been out for a couple of months now, but it really didn’t get my attention to watch it. So finally yesterday I felt like going to the movies, and when I got there Blind side was the only one playing at that time, and I did not fell like waiting two hours to watch another movie. Maybe it was fate to watch it, who knows? Anyways this movie is truly amazing if you have not seen it I recommending it tremendously. It has such a good meaning to it, and it touched my heart. For those that do not know. It is about an African-American teenager (Big Mike) who grew up not in the best situation. His mother was addicted to drugs and she had about 12 kids by different fathers. Big Mike was kind-hearted and non confrontational. One of his friends from the hood let him sleep on his couch and his friend’s father got Big Mike into a Christian School. The Christian High School he is attending was a majority all white school, and the teens at the school would look at him dirty because he was black and because he didn’t have he nicest clothes on. I felt so sorry for Big Mike at some points of the movies it even made me tear up. Most of the teachers did not want him there. Only his Biology teacher was nice and not racist.

One day Leigh, a mother of two children who also when to big mikes school, saw Mike walking in the pouring rain with only a shirt. In my eyes she is one of the most amazing women in the world. Leigh’s family is very wealthy because the own about 100 taco bells. Leigh being such a kind person asked Mike to stay in their home to sleep because he did not have nowhere else to go. Later in the movie Leigh and her husband Sean adopted Mike as their own son!! Leigh got some racial remakes by her friends because they did not like the fact that he was Black, but Leigh made them feel horrible by telling them in a classy way that what they are thinking is not the right thing. When the movie was almost over the NAACP got into Mikes life because they thought the only reason Leigh did all those nice things for him was because she wanted Mike to go to the University of Mississippi and play for their football team. Which i think that is completely bogus because they made Mike think those thought too, and because they are saying a white lady in the south cannot do anything nice for a Black teenager. In the end Mike realized that Leigh did this from the kindness of her heart and he when to play for Mississippi. This movie was a true story and now Big Mike plays for the Baltimore Ravens.

Children’s Television.

One day last week I was baby sitting my 6-year-old cousin at his house, he was watching SpongBob SquarePants and in this episode I was watching, it was about Mr Craps making a News Paper, and he made SpongeBob the main journalist. He wrote the first article about Patrick staring at a poll, and when Mr Crabs tried to sell the news paper to people they told him it was boring and they didn’t wanna read about Patrick staring at a poll. Then Mr. Crab told spongebob that he needs to make the news more interesting, and he gave him this great example of patrick
marrying the poll. Mr. Crabs even drew a tux on Patrick and a gown on the poll. The next day SpongBob got the point and he started to make false statements such as Mrs. Puff (a local boat school teacher) being chased by the cops,and SpongeBob also did some editing to the picture. SpongeBob thought no one would get hurt from this silly story, but that made her lose all the students at her boating school. Later SpongeBob says that the big tough guy named Larry got beat up by some little scrawny kid, and made him lose his job at the gym because now he had a bad reputation. Sponge bob also got the chum bucket closed down for false accusations. When the cartoon was about to be over SpongeBob saw the people he hurt and he realizes what he is doing is wrong. He feels horrible for all the ppl he hurt. So secretly he prints one last article about Mr. Crab and he wrote to the news paper readers what Mr. Crab told him to do, and they all go after Mr. Crap.

In my opinion this happens in real life a lot, editor’s just tell the journalist to spice it up. If they do that they know they will get more sales just for that article. Also people in real life get hurt like Miss Puff and Larry and sometimes they lose all their credibility just over one article that isn’t real. I think this was a very interesting episode of SpongeBob, and it wasnt just a lot on nonsense.
